- Urad dal:1/2 tsp
- Channa dal:1/2 tsp
- Coriander seeds:1/2 tsp
- Red chillies:5-6
- Hing or asafoetida powder:2 pinch
- salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Brinjal:200 gms
- Mustard seeds:1/4 tsp
Method:
- Cut the Brinjals longitudinally into 4 or 6 or 8 bite sized pieces(depending on the size of the brinjal) and keep aside.
- Fry Urad dal,Channa dal,Coriander seeds,red chillies and hing brown in a little oil.Grind into a fine powder and keep a side.
- Heat a little oil in a pan and add mustard seeds,when it crackles add the brinjal pieces and fry well,adding some more oil,if needed.
- When the brinjals are done to a turn,add the powder and salt to taste,saute for another 2-3 minutes and serve hot as side dish for dal or sambar.
