Goan Fish Curry


Ingredients:
  1. Seer Fish (or) Pomfret:1/2 kg
  2. Oil:3 1/2 tbs
  3. Curry Leaves:2-3 Stems
  4. Mustard Seeds:1/4 tsp
  5. Ginger Garlic Paste:1 tsp
  6. Medium sized Tomato:1 finely chopped
  7. Green Chilles:4 slited one
  8. Chilli Powder:2 tbsp
  9. Turmeric Powder:1/4 tsp
  10. Water:1 cup
  11. Salt:as per taste
  12. 1 marble sized ball of tamarind,juice extracted
  13. Cumin Seeds:1tbsp
  14. Coriander seeds:2tbsp
  15. Coconut:3 pieces

Make a ground paste of Cumin seeds,Coriander seeds and Coconut.Put aside.

Method:

  1. Heat a kadai with 3 1/2 tbs. oil.
  2. Add curry leaves, and mustard seeds.Fry for a minute till light brown.
  3. Add chopped onion,stir and fry for a minute till light brown.
  4. Add garlic ginger paste,stir and fry lightly for 2 minutes,then add paste of cumin seeds,coriander seeds and coconut.Fry well for 2 minutes.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes,stir and fry fr 2 minutes.
  6. Add slit green chillies,chilli powder,turmeric powder,1 cup of water and salt.
  7. Let mixture simmer for 10 minutes and stir.
  8. Add the raw fish.Close lid and let cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Open the lid,add tamarind juice and let it cook for a while.Serve hot.
